About

What do you do when your 2 year old is diagnosed with a developmental disorder?  Write about it.  While that may seem strange to you, writing has always been my therapy.

I wrote for a living for 13 years and although I read what I wrote aloud, typing my thoughts has become another form of therapy for me.  It will also be, I hope, a way for special needs moms to see that we aren’t alone.

Drew was initially diagnosed on the autism spectrum, though his diagnosis has since changed.  So many of our children think differently.  It is ok and they will be ok, great even.  They will survive and thrive and live independently.  They will create, invent, heal and save lives.  I hope, in the future, that labels will be used to help educators create the most effective teaching techniques but not to limit individuals as to what they can achieve.

Each child will define who they are, it is not for society to decide.

And so, here we go.  Come along for the ride…I can assure you, it will be anything but boring!
